a neat transition between the window or door\r\n          and the surrounding wall. In a reveal-fixed installation, it\r\n          also provides a fixing connection to the building frame. Its\r\n          exact attachment depends on the selected aluminium system.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n          <strong>The reveal is not the architrave.<\/strong>\r\n          The reveal lines the depth of the opening; the architrave sits\r\n          on the interior wall face and covers the joint between the\r\n          reveal and plasterboard. It is different from board\r\n          thickness and the window\u2019s overall dimensions. Drawings should\r\n          identify the measurement\u2019s starting and finishing points.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n          The required depth depends on the frame position, stud depth,\r\n          plasterboard and other wall layers. Brick-veneer construction\r\n          may also require allowance for the cavity.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <aside class=\"bwtr-note\" aria-labelledby=\"bwtr-example-title\">\r\n          <h3 id=\"bwtr-example-title\">\r\n            Example, not an ordering rule\r\n          <\/h3>\r\n\r\n          <p>\r\n            A <strong>90 mm stud plus 10 mm plasterboard<\/strong> gives a\r\n            nominal 100 mm build-up. Appropriate packing, fixing locations and\r\n          sill support are essential. Follow the product-specific\r\n          instructions, rather than applying one fixing method to every\r\n          window or wall type.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n          <strong>Timber reveals are not waterproofing.<\/strong>\r\n          The opening still needs the specified flashing and drainage\r\n          arrangements to direct water outside. Remove construction\r\n          residue promptly using the supplier\u2019s recommended cleaning\r\n          method.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n          Follow the supplier\u2019s coating schedule and inspect the finish\r\n          periodically. Where timber becomes persistently damp, address\r\n          the moisture source before refinishing. A bathroom window with a tiled sill, for\r\n          example, may need a different bottom detail from a bedroom\r\n          window with a boxed timber reveal.
